Undereye Dark Circles

Everyday patients always ask, “What can I do to get rid of those dark circles under my eyes?”.  Well to start out, you need to know what causes them.  Under-eye circles are due to a combination of factors — genetics, allergies, rubbing, stress, lack of sleep, dehydration, leftover makeup.  You will need to look for products that contain peptides, sepi-white, caffeine, niacinamide, mulberry root extract, or retinoids.  One great product option is Teamine!

The thinnest skin we have happens to be under the eye area which means how we react to fluid shows under our eyes.  One simple, yet tough way to help with puffy under eyes is to change your sleeping position.  If you sleep on your side or stomach, gravity could be pushing the fluids in your body to collect under your eyes.  It will take some work, but try sleeping on your back and add an extra pillow to raise your head position.

Other everyday occurences: frequently rubbing your eyes, excessive drinking and going to bed with your makeup on will contribute to the bags under your eyes.  The other possibility is that there could be a loss of volume in that area around your eye.  This will look like a hollow trough near the bone under the eye and appear like a dark circle.  This is when people decide to invest in an injectable to fill out those hollow areas.  The last option you have would be eyelid surgery to fix the problem.

All of these are options you have if you are concerned with the dark circles under your eyes.  We would suggest making an appointment with your dermatologist/cosmetic surgeon to see what the best option is for you in your stage of life.

Thanks!
